Rejuran
What is Rejuran?
REJURAN® is the newest revolutionary Bio-Regenerator injectable. It is a gel formation of polynucleotides, made of wild salmon DNA fragments. REJURAN® consists of bio-active and bio-compatible DNA molecules that stimulate regeneration and repair damaged skin cells while reducing unwanted inflammation. The growth factors in each REJURAN® product are designed to stimulate the growth of new cells, aiding in ideal tissue restoration. Polynucleotides help the skin by providing anti-inflammatory and wound healing mechanisms which in turn can stimulate the fibroblast inside the skin making the skin thicker, and also producing collagen, making the skin tighter. REJURAN® treatment may be applied to various areas of the face - including the forehead, temples, cheeks and around the mouth, or the delicate under-eye area - depending on individual need. Results vary between individuals.
Is Rejuran safe? What should I know before I receive a Rejuran treatment?
REJURAN® injectable products are TGA-approved and approved in over 30 countries. Over the last decade no official adverse events due to the administration of Rejuran have been reported.
Please note, you may not be eligible for Rejuran if you:
• Suffer from bleeding disorders.
• Have received dermal filler in the immediate area in the past three months.
• Are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
• Are immunocompromised.
• Certain contraindicated medical conditions and medications.
We highly encourage booking in a consultation with our Cosmetic Nurse prior to purchasing a package. A detailed medical history will be obtained during your consultation and a script will be obtained by your practitioner during your appointment if you are suitable for treatment.
How many sessions are required for optimal results?
An initial course of three REJURAN® treatment sessions is recommended, spaced two to four weeks apart. Maintenance sessions are then recommended approximately every 6-12 months, or as needed. (When doing Rejuran with skin needling we would ensure to space treatments no less than 4 weeks apart due to increased skin healing).
How does it differ from HA boosters or PDRN products?
Hyaluronic Acid boosters mainly rehydrate and plump the skin, they do not implement changes to collagen synthesis and inflammation; and whilst people tend to use PDRN and PN interchangeably, there are fundamental differences between them. PN stands for Polynucleotide. It's what's used in injectable forms of REJURAN. PN is 10 times higher in concentration, the key difference being the larger molecular weight of PN, making it to contain a higher nucleotide content with the ability to provide scaffolding structure to dermal tissue, which PDRN cannot.
Is it painful?
As Rejuran is delivered through multiple fine injections, a mild stinging sensation can be expected. The addition of micro-needling may produce further heat and tenderness to the skin. To make the treatment more comfortable, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin prior.
How long does the treatment take?
Whilst the Rejuran injections themselves are quite quick, due to the necessary pre-care and application of numbing, your appointment will be scheduled for 1 hour. The addition of micro-needling will further prolong treatment times accordingly.
What is the downtime of Rejuran and aftercare involved?
While there may be some initial, temporary effects such as slight swelling, small visible bumps, or papules on the treated areas immediately after treatment, they generally subside within 24-72 hours. Most people are able to return to their normal daily activities shortly after treatment. The following may also occur:
• Minor redness, injection marks, swelling and skin sensitivity, which generally subside within 1-3 days.
• Minor flaking, dryness and peeling, which may last several days.
• Scabs may form but generally fall off within a few days.
• After the procedure, avoid high-temperature environments such as saunas and steam rooms for the approximately 72 hrs. Do not excessively massage the treated area. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) to minimise pigmentation risk and avoid the use of active skincare within the treatment areas for two weeks.
• Non-compliance with aftercare guidance as advised by your practitioner may affect results or increase risk.
What are the benefits from doing Rejuran with needling?
As Rejuran contains polynucleotides that help the skin by providing anti-inflammatory and wound healing mechanisms, Rejuran stimulates the fibroblasts within the skin, thereby assisting in collagen synthesis to make the skin tighter, firmer and healthier. As micro-needling also stimulates the body's natural healing processes, just via a differing method of creating a physical micro-injury to the skin, Rejuran and needling work synergistically together to improve skin quality outcomes; they work hand-in-hand when it comes to addressing textural concerns, ageing prevention and overall skin rejuvenation.
When will I see results?
Initial glow and hydration may appear one-two weeks post treatment, with a progressive and accumulative dermal remodelling effect addressing deeper concerns such as textural and elasticity concerns expected over the following 3–6 months.
